A Home for Jazz & Music Innovation
Founded in 1983 as a two-day festival by Randall Kline in 1983, and now under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Terence Blanchard and Chief Executive Officer Gabrielle Armand, SFJAZZ is a worldwide leader in jazz presentation, creation, and music education, serving more than 250,000 people annually.

SFJAZZ explores the full spectrum of jazz—from its origins in the African American and Afro Caribbean communities, to its diverse and evolving expressions around the world today. We honor the music through creation, presentation and education.

Diverse audiences around the world will be inspired by and appreciate jazz, respect the voices of its artists and honor its origins in African American history and the African diaspora.
SFJAZZ CENTER
Opened in 2013, the SFJAZZ Center is located on the corner of Franklin and Fell Streets in the heart of San Francisco’s Hayes Valley arts district, and includes two performance spaces, a state-of-the-art production video suite, multiple music practice rooms, a digital lab, a restaurant and multiple bars.

As presenters of an art form rooted in the Black American experience, SFJAZZ has a unique responsibility and acknowledges that systemic racism and bias has impacted Black, Indigenous, and people of color throughout our region, the larger jazz ecosystem, and within our own organization.
